Metro de Caracas / Ghella Sogene
€ 105 million
2004 - 2004
The project involved the design of the extension of the El Valle- La Rinconada Line 3 of Caracas Metro. This project links the urban area of El Valle and Coche to the existing metro network and provides an efficient, rapid, safe and integrated transport system for the entire south- west part of Caracas city. The design capacity of Line 3 is 240.000 passengers per day.
The new 4.45km-long extension runs underground from the actual El Valle station to the El Hipódromo and Poliedro area, where it connects to the new railway station of Caracas (La Rinconada) in urban context. The configuration of the metro line is a single-track, twin-tube (2270m-long each) with an internal diameter of 5.2m, located in the Caracas ground comprising alluvial deposits (sand predominates clayey silt and sandy clay with gravels lenses) and schist bedrock (Las Mercedes formation). In 2010 the extension became fully operational between Plaza Venezuela and La Rinconada.
Detailed Design of the running tunnels and the Los Jardines station, including Architecture, Structures, Electro-Mechanical equipment, and sanitary facilities. Design of the geotechnical monitoring of the works, technical assistance during construction.
