The sewage excavated by Micro-Tunnel machine is part of the Turin Automatic Metro Line 1 – Section Porta Nuova-Lingotto. The line 1 runs entirely underground with a 15.2km-long, single-tube, twin-track running tunnel (internal diameter of 6.8m). The Porta Nuova-Lingotto is in operation since February 2011; it develops southward under Via Nizza, from Porta Nuova railway station to Lingotto, with a total length of 3.7km and 6 underground stations.

— Project Description:

The project consists of the deviation of the existing sewage system through the realization of a new tunnel using a micro-tunneling machine (MTBM), including technical shaft, crossing Piazza Carducci. The main characteristics of the tunnel are: • Length: 120,50m • Internal diameter: 1,5m • External diameter: 2,2m • Overburden: 11,85m • Distance from the Metro Tunnel: 1,15m • Excavation technique: micro-tunneling machine.
