Owner/Client:

Lyon Turin Ferroviaire SaS

Cost of works:

€ 3,900 million

Period of Activity:

2005 - 2007

The new Lyon-Turin high-speed rail link develops at the border between Italy and France. It is a stretch of Corridor 5, which will connect the cities of Kiev (Ukraine) and Lisbon (Portugal).

— Project Description:

The new railway connection Lyon-Turin has a length of 74,2km between Saint Jean de Maurienne, Savoy (France), and Bruzolo, Piedmont (Italy). The alignment includes both underground and surface complex infrastructures. The most important underground works comprise 53km base tunnel + 12km Bussoleno Tunnel + 510m deep ventilation shaft and the 5.6km Val Clarea ventilation tunnel.

— Description of Services:

Hydrogeological studies. Scope of the study:
1. Aquifer characterisation:

  • 3D structural geology analysis
  • Hydrogeological borehole tests
  • Geochemistry
  • Water point monitoring

2. Forecast of groundwater inflow into tunnels:

  • Aquifer recharge evaluation
  • Dupuis analytical formula and probabilistic approach
  • Comparison with other tunnels in similar hydrogeological conditions

3. Impact of groundwater inflow on the environment

  • Spring, wells and river discharge
  • Drawdown Hazard Index: a probabilistic forecast with a System Approach
