The work is part of a significant program to improve the Sicilian rail system. The intervention is aimed at increasing the safety and the line speed of the line. Construction works are carried out without traffic disruption on the already existing line.


— Project Description:

The project runs from Fiumetorto Station in Palermo to Central Agrigento Station for a total length of 95km. The modernization of the Palermo - Agrigento section includes the realization of 7 modifications to the already existing alignment, the refurbishment of approx. 13km of railway line, the removal of 9 level crossings, the realization of 3 interchange nodes in the stations of Roccapalumba, Cammarata and Aragona, and the realization of 2 parkings in the stations of Cerda at Castronovo. The upgrade also includes the 2.8km-long, single-track, Lercara tunnel, a 135m-long viaduct, and all MEP works.

Support activities for the approval of the detailed design; works supervision; bills of quantities; and health and safety coordination during construction; verification and control of environmental conservation.
