The Republic of Croatia received a loan from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development toward a Justice Sector Support Project (JSSP). The JSSP is being implemented by the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Croatia (MOJ); implementation support for the JSSP is being provided by the World Bank (WB). The MOJ intends, through the JSSP, to improve the efficiency of the justice system, including the consolidation and reorganization of key justice sector entities in and around Zagreb.

— Project Description:

The project - Consultancy services for technical feasibility studies pertaining to the proposed Zagreb Judicial Square (ZJS) - required the restructuring of some existing buildings and construction of four new main buildings directly connected to an underground parking area. Buildings were characterized by the presence of 6 floors above ground and 2 underground floors car parking.

— Description of Services:

Geodata provided assessment and 6 hectares characterization of soils present on a site off from a geological, geotechnical and environmental point of view and define the conditions and possible limitations of the proposed site for the construction of buildings included in the project. The scope of work also included the provision of indications and recommendations for foundations of structures and for protection of temporary excavation of construction pit. The first step consisted of the geological and hydrogeological assessment of the project area, aimed to define the Reference Geological Model (RGM). Site investigations were included in the service tasks. 30 cored boreholes were drilled up to 30m depth, with SPT tests, collection of samples, installation of piezometers; 10 penetration tests (DPH), geotechnical laboratory tests and environmental analysis on soil and water samples, geophysical investigations with MASW method and geo- electric tomography. This Final Report contained all factual data, reference geological model description, geotechnical characterization of soils, hydrogeological model and drawings, such as geological-geotechnical sections and site plan showing the location of investigations.
