Istanbul Metro. Dudullu - Bostanci line

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM)

Cost of works:

€ 1,400 million

Period of Activity:

2013 - 2015

Istanbul is a megalopolis with over 15-million inhabitants, still growing and expanding, characterized by a mixture of historic heritage, natural beauty, and uncontrolled urbanization. Mobility is the biggest problem of the city, also due to its unique location, divided in two parts by the Bosporus Strait, which separates the Anatolian from the European side of the city. Dudullu-Bostancı Line crosses the densely-populated Anatolian side of the city and it is part of the new and ambitious mass transport program of the Turkey Government to put into operation over 500 km of new metro lines by 2025. Dudullu-Bostancı line is the first of new lines to be built in the future.

— Project Description:

Dudullu-Bostancı line runs from south to north with a length of 14km and 13 new underground stations. The line is completely underground with many connections with other main Istanbul transport systems such as the Bosphorus ferry (at Bostanci Harbour), the Marmaray railway, the Kadıköy-Kartal line (also developed by Geodata in 2008-2010) and the Üsküdar-Çekmeköy line, which is under construction. A fully automated metro system will be implemented (GoA4) with driverless trains, CBTC, and platform screen doors at stations. The line underpasses a very complex urban area and features station with particular architectural and functional layout. The tunnel is expected to be excavated by TBM.
