Tbilisi Metro. Extension of Line 2

— Project Description:

The construction of the Suburban Line extension, from Delisi station to the University station, started in 1985, but it was interrupted several times due to economic and financial difficulties occurred since the breakup of Georgia from the Soviet Union. In the 2000, Vazha Pshavela Station was opened and operated on single track using one of the twin tunnel tubes between Delisi and Vazha Pshavela. The tunnels between Vazha Pshavela and University stations were bored up with access shaft and ticket room but the permanent civil works were not finalized, even if almost 80% of work was already done. The project can be divided into two main assignments:

• The 2.6km-long Metro extension from Delisi Station to University Station;
• Creation of University Station and a 301m-long tunnel for cross-over and train parking.
