Alto Maipo Hydroelectric Project

— Project Description:

The Alto Maipo Hydroelectric Power project consists of the design, construction, operation and maintenance of two run-of-the-river hydroelectric plants with a total capacity of 531MW. The Project will be developed and owned by AES Gener S.A. (60%) and by Antofagasta Minerals S.A. (“AMSA”, 40%). The construction of the two hydroelectric power plants began in the 4th quarter of 2013. The Las Lajas plant (267MW) is expected to be commissioned in the 1st quarter of 2018, while the Alfalfal II plant (264MW), is expected to be commissioned in the 4th quarter of 2018. They are expected to have an approximate annual production of 2,320GWh, which will be delivered to Chile’s Sistema Interconectado Central (“SIC”). Alfalfal II and Las Lajas plants are both underground, with tunnels and shafts for a total length of over 65km to be excavated with both drilling and blast and TBM.
