— Project Description:

The suburban new rail link encompasses 8.5km-long twin tunnels to be bored by 2 dual-mode TBMs (EPB/Slurry Shield) and 3 new rail stations, of which 2 underground (Belmont Station and Airport Consolidated Station) and 1 at grade (Forrestfield Station). In addition, U/G main works are envisaged for the 3 Emergency Egress Shafts, 12 Cross Passages and 2 dive structures encapsulating tunnel portals and TBMs launch/retrieve areas.

The majority of the alignment stretches beneath the Perth Airport precinct, resulting in very demanding and stringent requirements for both design and construction phases. In addition, a Swan River underpass is also anticipated. As a result of these special features, extensive soil treatments and temporary works are required, including jet grouting, ground freezing and extensive groundwater control by pumping wells.

Specialist consultant for the Tunnels and U/G main works design for the Detailed Design and Construction Assistance phase.

Detailed responsibilities assigned to Geodata are as follows:

• Detailed Design of bored tunnels segmental lining and associated portals;
• Temporary and enabling works design for Underground Stations, Emergency Egress Shafts, Cross Passages and Dive Structures, including excavation, retaining structures and dewatering systems;
• Fire & Life Safety FES, FEB and FER preparation, including tunnel CFD modelling;
• Preparation of BoQ associated with delivered drawings;
• A-constructed drawings and shop-drawings review.
