Cerro del Aquila hydroelectric Project, denominated also Mantaro 3, is located in Peru, represents the third step of exploitation of Mantaro River for energy production. The plants is positioned 11.7km downstream of restitution tunnel of Mantaro 2 power plant. The project considers a total installed capacity of 510MW over a gross head of about 250m.

— Project Description:

A concrete gravity dam 84m height is foreseen. Dam is equipped with a spillway (4 radial gates 12x14m) and a bottom outlet completely integrated in the dam body (8 conduit 4.5x6.2m each) for flushing purpose. The waterway complex system considers: headrace tunnel 5.6km length 10.8m diameter, pressure shaft 236m height 8m diameter, surge shaft 92m height 14m diameter, tailrace tunnel 1.8km. The underground power house (13x92x45m) is equipped with 3 Francis turbines 170MW each for a total installed capacity of 510MW. An underground system: ventilation, cable, emergency and access tunnel complete the scheme.
