Turin Automatic Metro - Line 1 - Italy

Home » Metro »

The construction of Line 1 of the Turin metro completes the realisation of a modern collective transport system, which included various projects developed to grant a new transport network to the city.

In this context, the realisation of the new Line 1 is crucial. The choise of a VAL System as reference technology – the first in Italy – gives a high added value in terms of functional and transportation reliability, economy and safety of the work.

In addition to problems associated with the urban context, the project of the line had to deal, with success, with the unalterable programmatic constraints linked to the completion of the work on time for the Winter Olympic Games of 2006 (first section) and the Celebration of 150th Anniversary of the Unification of Italy of 2011 (second section)
