Complexity of the Environment Print

complessità ambientale Modernity is inseparable from complexity. The construction of an infrastructure is the result of the interaction among various actors: planners, owners, engineers, contractors and users.

Each significant intervention on the territory modifies the existing equilibrium. Design has to find solutions which are both technically and economically acceptable and integrated. This is fundamental in the natural environment and even more stringent in urban environment.

Environment complexity in cities comes from acting in a land already “colonised” and built up, having  to live with a series of constraints at different levels: the safety of the residents, respecting historical and archaeological sites, and the interferences with the underground service networks: water, sewer, power and telephone cables, optic fibres.

In a complex environment each missing piece of information could jeopardise the success of the project, from both technical and economical points of view. The key to the success of GEODATA projects is the global vision: the identification from the project onset  of the issues involved, of the criticalities and their solutions, on the basis of a well-understood, multidisciplinary framework and managed with innovative technical instruments.
